Verreaux's eagle owl (Bubo lacteus), also known as a giant or milky eagle owl. Whilst not endangered, it is fairly rare. It is also the largest of the owls on the African continent. The clip shows an adult owl picking up insects, during the summer rainfall season, in what is normally an arid dry riverbed. It usually eats medium-sized mammals including monkeys, hedgehogs, hyraxes, larger birds, reptiles, frogs, invertebrates, fish and even carrion.
