Japanese people who are curious about Islam visit Tokyo Mosque
TOKYO, JAPAN - OCTOBER 3: The Tokyo Mosque in Japan's capital welcomes over 50,000 visitors who want to get to know Islam closely from the Japanese community
Muhammet Rıfat Çınar, Imam of the Tokyo Mosque affiliated to the Türkiye’s Presidency of Religious Affairs , spoke to Anadolu and said that they showed the mosque and introduced Islamic civilization to academic guests from the country's leading universities such as Waseda, Keio and Meiji.
Noting that he observed that master's and doctoral students were directed to research the topics about Islam, Çınar said that the most intense appointment requests for visiting the mosque came from academics.
- High demand for private interviews
Çınar said that he gave interviews on topics about Islam, remotely and face-to-face.
Pointing to the scarcity of sources on Islam among local publications, Çınar emphasized that nearly 30 source works printed in Japanese by the Türkiye’s Presidency of Religious Affairs were distributed to more than 100 mosques across Japan.
"Every day is open door day for the Tokyo Mosque. The number of visitors without an appointment is between 300-400 on weekdays and over 1000 on weekends due to increased activities. In this context, I believe that Tokyo Mosque hosts over 50 thousand guests a year with and without appointment. At least 3 out of 4 of these guests are Japanese.", said Çınar
