Mesa Apartment Fire Prompts Major Response

On August 2, 2025, a fast-moving fire broke out in an apartment at 1424 E Dana Avenue, Unit A, in Mesa, leading to a significant emergency response. Firefighters from Mesa Fire and Medical, Gilbert Fire, and other agencies were dispatched to the scene, arriving to find smoke and flames visible from the unit. The situation was quickly escalated to a 1st Alarm Working Fire. During operations, live electrical lines were found down, leading to an emergency declaration and the involvement of Salt River Project and City of Mesa Gas to secure utilities. The fire was under control by 3:34 p.m., with no reported injuries. The American Red Cross was also on site to assist displaced residents. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
