The center documents the expulsion and migration of people due to war and conflict, and in particular ethnic Germans from countries across Europe after World War II. Millions of ethnic Germans were expelled from regions including East Prussia, the Sudetan areas of former Czechoslovakia, areas that are now part of Poland and other regions in Eastern Europe, often in retaliation for the brutality of wartime German military occupation.
