Communal kitchen initiative in India makes life easier for working mothers

PONNANI, INDIA - JANUARY 27: A kitchen model that has just started to be implemented in India allows working people to both save time and eat hot home meals. The new model has rapidly become popular in India's southern state of Kerala. A communal kitchen in Ponnani, Malappuram district of Kerala, that produces home-cooked meals delivers meals to many families' homes at affordable prices every day. The kitchen, which is a step that makes life easier for people who spend most of their day at work, especially working mothers, also provides employment to many people. A kitchen started by the initiative of Advocate K.P. Khaleemudheen, a left movement politician, paved the way for a new experiment. The idea of the kitchen, which initially started with only delivering food to two families, grew like an avalanche and now serves countless people. "Per head INR 70 ( 0.93 USD ) has to be paid. Altogether four members in a house INR 280 ( 3.73 USD ) to be paid for this kitchen. Entire breakfast items and for lunch and dinner except for rice the other dishes will be supplied. Supply will be 7 am to 8 am and started one in Ponnani now it is already taken all over Kerala 8:52 now we have running three kitchens in Ponnani," he said. He continued by saying: "It is mainly making what we prepared in our home, same taste, same content, same pleasure will be supplied through this kitchen whereas in the restaurants or other hotels making some food from there we have to note that consistently have a certain taste but here no other artificial flavors are using, all the vegetables and groceries are purchased by one among the household and commuting the amount and the residue amount will be given to the kitchen maker, so every kitchen maker would get around INR 30,000 ( 399.75 USD ) to INR 40000( 533USD) and they are working only 4 am to 7 am , only three hours work actually, three or four persons engaged in the kitchen too.” (Footage by Ashik K.S. /Anadolu Agency via Getty Images)
