Thrissur Pooram, held in Thekkinkadu Maidanam in the heart of Thrissur district, is a major celebration that combines Kerala's spiritual and cultural core. This yearly temple celebration, held during the Malayalam month of Medam (April-May), is commonly considered as the "Mother of all Poorams." Thrissur Pooram, the idea of Shakthan Thampuran, the Maharaja of Kochi, combines 10 temples to create a stunning display that draws thousands of tourists each year.
The finale of Thrissur Pooram is marked with a spectacular fireworks show that lights up the night sky, followed by the closure of the festival the next morning with the lowering of the temple flag.
