Jockeys Riding Hard for a Win

(Original Caption) Kentucky: What Really Happened In Kentucky Derby Stretch Fight. The result of the 59th running of the Kentucky Derby at Louisville May 6th will be argued and discussed for years because of Jockey Fisher's claim that his mount, "Head Play," was fouled by Jockey Meade, astride E. R. Bradley's "Broker's Tip," which was officially declared the winner. Fisher claimed that Meade pulled at the saddle blanket of "Head Play," thus throwing the horse off stride, that he struck at Meade with his whip and then tried to pull at the saddle blanket of "Broker's Tip." This photo shows "Broker's Tip" (16), on the rail, with Meade's hand extended toward the saddle of "Head Play" (9), which is in the lead.
