Patients Outside of Physician's Office
(Original Caption) The physician's office. An illuminated drawing from a manuscript executed at Bruges, ca. 1482, shows two patients waiting for treatment outside an office shared by two physicians. Inside, the richly-clad colleagues are taking blood from one patient's arm and examining the urine of another. Frequently, leeches were used instead of a knife to "suck" humors from a diseased area.
