Clyde McCullough Waiting to Catch Joe Garagiola's Fly Ball

(Original Caption) The other catcher from "the hill" in St. Louis (Yogi Berra hails from St. Looie), Joe Garagiola, now wearing the uniform of the New York Giants, stares in awe as his mighty swing produces a pop fly back to the screen behind home plate in the second inning of the second game at the Polo Grounds. Tossing his mask to one side is Chicago Cubs catcher Clyde McCullogh. Garagiola made an inauspicious debut as a New York Giant, striking out. The Giants defeated the Cubs in the first game of a September 9th double header, 7-6. Garagiola was purchased from the Cubs on September 8th.
