EU announces meat embargo on 20 meat packing plants in Brazil
The European Commission confirmed on 19 April, 2018 the embargo on meat and meat products manufactured by 20 Brazilian plants. The companies entered the European Union blacklist unanimously, due to "deficiencies detected in the official Brazilian control system". The suspension mainly reaches the export of poultry meat from the BRF units, owner of the brands Perdigão and Sadia. The ban should enter into force 15 days after the publication of the measure in the Official Gazette of the European Union, which should happen this Friday, 20 April, 2018.
