The Adventures of Baron Munchausen illlustrated by Alphonse Adolphe Bichard (b. 1841). Caption reads: …my piece of bacon fat had gone through all the ducks without leaving its string, and they were threaded on it like a row of pearls. I advanced joyfully to the brink again, and drew the ducks in. Based on the life of Karl Friedrich Hieronymus, Baron (Freiherr) von Münchhausen (11 May 1720 - 22 February 1797) and his fantastical tales.
