Joseph Vitolo Praying for Visitors
(Original Caption) Since the night of October 30, when he says he saw a vision of the Virgin Mary atop a 15 foot rock formation in a vacant lot in the Bronx, young Joseph Vitolo, 9, has been mobbed every time he has ventured outdoors. People cut pieces from his clothing, his hair and kiss his hands, begging him to pray for them or for some dear one afflicted in some way. The boy is now confined to his home. Here, John Pace, a soldier back from overseas, brings his sister, Caroline, to the Vitolo home to beg Joseph to pray for her. Left to right are Ann Pace, John Pace, holding sister Caroline, and Joseph Vitolo stands on a bed praying.
