Replica Of Christopher Columbus' Tall Ship Nao Santa Maria Arrives In London
LONDON, ENGLAND - MAY 28: A replica of the Nao Santa Maria sails through Tower Bridge and into St Katharine Docks Marina on May 28, 2025 in London, England. The 200 ton full-size replica of the tall ship Christopher Columbus sailed on during his expedition to the Americas in 1492 is dropping anchor at London's St. Katharine Docks until June 8, before it continues its journey to other ports. Operated by the Nao Victoria Foundation and first launched in 2018, the construction of the ship involved more than 100 professionals from various disciplines. The 93 foot (28 meter) Nao Santa Maria will be open to visitors to explore an accurate copy of the infamous vessel that symbolizes the early days of global exploration, and for many, the colonization of the Americas by European powers, and subsequent decimation of native populations.
