Press photographers take photos of the swimmers at the French swimming championship, in August 1954, at the Tourelles nautical stadium in Paris. Built for the 1924 Paris Summer Olympics, Porte des Lilas in Paris, the Tourelles nautical stadium, today the Georges-Vallerey swimming pool, could accommodate 10,000 people and was used to host the diving, swimming, water polo, and the swimming portion of the modern pentathlon events for the 1924 Summer Olympics. Johnny Weissmuller broke the world record in the 400 meters here. (Photo by INTERCONTINENTALE / AFP) (Photo by -/INTERCONTINENTALE/AFP via Getty Images)
