SYRIA-LEBANON-MUSICAL-FAIRUZ

Lebanese diva Fairuz performs in Syria for the first time in two decades at the Damascus Opera House, 28 January 2008. Fairuz took her Rahbani brothers musical play 'Sah El-Nom' which was performed in Lebanon and Jordan over the past two years to neighbouring Syria amid a storm of criticism from some politicians in Lebanon's anti-Syrian camp. This is the first time Fairuz goes back to her audience in Syria since her soldout concert in 1985 at the ancient amphitheatre of Busra, outside Damascus. The diva used to perform at the Damascus festival every summer from her debut in the late 1950s until the mid-1970s.
