Summer excavation at Bromacker
19 July 2023, Thuringia, Gotha: Scientists are searching for remnants of primordial dinosaurs and other traces from 290 million years ago at the Bromacker fossil site during the 2023 summer excavation. Around 40 researchers are involved until August 11. The excavations at Bromacker are part of an interdisciplinary research project that will run until 2025. The research institution Museum für Naturkunde Berlin - Leibniz Institute for Evolutionary and Biodiversity Research, the Friedenstein Castle Foundation Gotha, the Friedrich Schiller University in Jena and the Unesco Global Geopark Thuringia Inselsberg-Drei Gleichen are working together for this.
