BallinStadt Emigration Museum To Open
HAMBURG, GERMANY - JULY 02: Journalists walk through an exhibit replicating sleeping facilities at the new BallinStadt emigration museum July 2, 2007 in Hamburg, Germany. The museum is built on the former grounds of a transit center for emigrants built by Albert Ballin between 1901 and 1907, which included dormitories, mess halls, sanitation faicilities, a church and a synagogue. Over a million emigrants, many of them from Eastern Europe, passed through Hamburg on their way to America. The museum officially opens to the public on July 4. (Photo by Sean Gallup/Getty Images)
