01/04/1956-John Landy makes a comeback.- Australia's John Landy, world mile record holder at 3min. 58sec., who made a brilliant comeback at Olympic Park, Melborne, on January 4 in a 880 yard race against world 880-yard record holder, LonnieSpurrier, of U.S.A. Landy's performance dispelled any doubt about his appearence as Australia's greatest hope in this year's Games in Melbourne. He had been out of action for 13 months and had spent the year in the mountains teaching at Timbertops, country branch of Geelong Grammer School.
