Indian authorities deployed large number on their government forces in Kashmir across most of Indian-administered Kashmir to thwart anti Indian protest demonstrations of Kashmiri Muslims on the second death anniversary of Burhan Muzaffar wani, a young rebel commander of Hizbul Mujahideen, a Kashmir-based militant outfit, popular among Kashmiris due to his activity on social media where he advocated against Indian rule in Kashmir. Burhan Muzaffar Wani who was killed in a brief encounter along with his two associates in Bumdoora Village Of Kokernag area of South Kashmirs Anantnag district by the Indian government forces on 8 July 2016.
