Burhan Muzaffar Wani who was killed in a brief encounter along with his two associates in Bumdoora Village Of Kokernag area of South Kashmirs Anantnag district by the Indian government forces on 8 July 2016. Widespread protests erupted in the Kashmir valley after his death, causing 2016 unrest in valley for nearly half a year in which over 100 people were killed while and over 15,000 civilians and more than 1,000 government forces were injured.
