Chile: Building That Functioned As A Prison And Torture Center During The Military Dictatorship Is Opened.
In Osorno, Chile, on May 25, 2025, the former cells of the former PDI building open for the celebration of Heritage Day. The former barracks of the Chilean Investigative Police (PDI), which functioned as a military prosecutor's office during the military dictatorship of Augusto Pinochet, open for the first time. Between 1973 and 1975, men and women are brought in from other precincts to be interrogated and tortured there. Former political prisoners who are detained in this barracks recount their experiences to visitors in Osorno, Chile (Photo by Fernando Lavoz, Nur Photo).
