Jim and Patricia Thorpe
(Original Caption) Encouragement by Mail. New York: Jim Thorpe and his wife, Patricia, read through hundreds of fan letters containing words of encouragement to Thorpe, in her fight to recover her husband's Olympic trophies. The wife of the great athlete said she was "insulted" February 28, when she called the Amateur Athletic Union in an effort to get back the trophies. She spoke with Dan Ferris, Executive Secretary of the AAU, who denied insulting her, and said that the medals donated to Thorpe by the King of Sweden and the Czar of Russia were not Thorpe's property, but that of the Olympic Committee. The case may go to court.
