Handwritten Note By Philosopher Hegel Found In 1801 Maiden Work In Tokyo bookshop
TOKYO, JAPAN - OCTOBER 20: A book with a handwritten note by German philosopher Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel (1770-1831), "The Difference Between Fichte's and Schelling's Systems of Philosophy" has been discovered in a secondhand bookstore on October 20, 2014 in Tokyo, Japan. It appears that Rokuro Imaizumi, a Meiji Era (1868-1912) veterinarian who once studied in Germany, brought the book back to Japan with him on his return. The work was later donated to the then Odawara junior high school (current Odawara senior high school) in Kanagawa Prefecture, and later sold to a secondhand bookstore. Although the work is currently owned by Yorikawa, the professor said he hopes to donate it to a German research organization. (Photo by The Asahi Shimbun via Getty Images)
