Four small beings lay under its edge: two dead, one badly injured, and one unhurt trying to aid the others. Anderson describes them as 4–4.5 feet tall, with large heads, almond-shaped black eyes, tiny ear holes, almost no noses, slit mouths, no hair, and long delicate fingers.
