The Funeral Of King Harald V Of Norway

OSLO, NORWAY - SEPTEMBER 09: King Felipe VI of Spain and Queen Letizia of Spain during the funeral of King Harald V of Norway on September 09, 2026 in Oslo, Norway. Born on February 21, 1937, King Harald V of Norway was the first Norwegian-born monarch to inherit the Norwegian throne in over 600 years, reigning from 1991 until his death on August 28, 2026. He represented Norway in sailing at three Olympic Games and, in 1968, married Sonja Haraldsen, breaking with royal convention by marrying a non-royal. The couple had two children, and he was succeeded by his son, King Haakon VIII of Norway. (Photo by Peter Summers/Getty Images)
