CANADA-MILITARY-PARADE
Soldiers and veterans of the 48th Highlanders of Canada march in the annual Freedom of the City Parade in Toronto, on April 25, 2026. The 48th Highlanders of Canada is an active Canadian Forces Primary Reserve infantry regiment formed in 1891 that fought in both World Wars. Freedom of the City is a prestigious honour granted to military units with long-standing ties to a municipality. Rooted in a 15th-century English tradition, the ceremony remains significant in the Canadian Army today. This year also marks the 135th anniversary of the 48th Highlanders.
