CDC Director remote statement to coronavirus reopening hearing

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Director Robert Redfield tells the Senate HELP Committee by videoconference that in light of the significant occurrence of asymptomatic infection, surveillance of coronavirus was an important public health tool, the CDC was working with each public-health jurisdiction to develop a prospective surveillance program including active surveillance of individuals and long-term care facilities, intercity clinics and homeless shelters, the need was to rebuild the public health infrastructure with data analytics and public health laboratory resilience with time to put in place for generations to come not only for the public health system the nation needs but the nation deserves.
