(Original Caption) Newbold Morris, president of the council, gives stars of both stage and screen a permit for the erection of Christmas trees at Times Square, Columbus Circle, 59th Street and Fifth Avenue, George Washington Bridge Plaza, Herald Square and Union Square. Trees will be light through 25-cent contributions, dropped into meters, by passerby, and the proceeds will go to help foreign refugees.
