(Original Caption) Former screen star Ona Munson, 50, was found dead in her New York home today near a note declaring death was the only way she knew "to be free again." In this recent photo the ex-actress is shown with third husband, painter-scenic designer Eugene Berman, at their luxurious West 84th St. apartment. She apparantely died from an overdose of sleeping pills. Her body was discovered by Berman when he returned home shortly before 1:00 PM. Friends said she had been despondent, but not because of finances.
