Danny Escobedo Seated in Police Station
(Original Caption) 11/3/1966-Chicago, IL- Danny Escobedo, 29, whose 1960 murder conviction was overturned by the U.S. Supreme Court in a landmark case, sits in the police station after being charged with burglarizing a hot dog stand. Escobedo was freed in 1964 after serving four and a half years of a 20-year term, when the court found police had refused him permission to consult a lawyer before he allegedly confessed to slaying his brother-in-law.
