Nortonville, KS. Youngsters stand beside a child-size wagon pulled by turkeys in this photo made when Kansas was a frontier. Children were particularly valued in the frontier family, isolated as it was from distant relatives and past friends. With developing strength, they brought helping hands to the family's labor.
