Underwater wild Clownfish (Amphiprion ocellaris) in Magnificent Sea Anemone Hecteractis Magnifier) - stock video

An underwater image of the western Anemone Clownfish (Amphiprion ocellaris) within a Magnificent Anemone (Hecteractis Magnifier). These fish are fascinating in that they live in the Anemone Coral and have a symbiotic relationship with them. The Clownfish coats itself in the stinging mucus excreted by the Anemone and is thereby protected from the venom and predators. In return the Clownfish feeds on parasites and small predators that infest and try to eat the Anemone. Of course this little fish was made famous by the Pixar movie 'Finding Nemo', however this also unfortunately led to the decimation of wild population numbers due to demand from the aquarium trade. Image taken whilst scuba diving in Phi Phi islands, Krabi, Thailand.
