NEW YORK, NY - MAY 24, 2019: Transgender women rallied in Manhattan's Washington Square Pa in protest of the five black transgender women have been victims of fatal violence in the United States so far in 2019. The latest is Michelle "Tamika" Washington, 40, a Black transgender woman, was fatally shot in Philadelphia on May 19. Dana Martin, 31; Jazzaline Ware; Ashanti Carmon, 27; Claire Legato, 21; Muhlaysia Booker, 23; and yet unnamed Black transgender woman was among those killed in a triple shooting in a home in Detroit on May 25. The Trans Women chanted "When Black Trans Women are under Attack what do we do?" Several speakers spoke of President Donald Trump's controversial transgender military policy and his administrations proposed rollback of transgender protections.
