?Kyokusui-no-En?-Festival of writing Waka Poetry

This ceremony is held in Dazaifu Shrine, Dazaifu, Fukuoka, Japan. ?Kyokusui-no-En? is a reappearance of one of the festivals that took place in the imperial court during the Heian period. Poets wear the Court Costumes or ?Jyuni-Hitoe? (twelve-layered ceremonial kimono for the court lady) and write ?Waka? (a 31-syllable Japanese poem) on a strip of fancy paper, and drink Sake which drifts down the stream in front of the poet.
