Students in Turkish school adopt stray cat Namik
ESKISEHIR, TURKEY - FEBRUARY 23: A stray cat is adopted by over 600 students at a school in central Turkey.
A total of 623 students of Namik Kemal Secondary School are looking after the cat named after their school “Namik”.
The school administration and students raised money to call a veterinarian for Namik’s necessary vaccines.
One-year-old Namik’s animal ID card features the name of the school as the owner.
Speaking to Anadolu Agency, school principal Enes Gunay said that as winter weather conditions are harsh in Eskisehir, they wanted to keep Namik temporarily at the beginning. (Footage by Selçuk Kızıldağ/Anadolu Agency/Getty Images)
