Hawk Newsome president of Black Lives Matter New York led a rally and march in West Harlem in memory of "the apostle of nonviolence" Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. marking the 50th anniversary of his assassination. The rally began at the Adam Clayton Powell Jr. State Office Building (near the Apollo theater) followed by a peaceful march to Manhattan's Riverside Church in Morningside Heights where King gave an historic speech in light of the Vietnam war.
