General Election 2010: Plaid Cymru manifesto launch; Ieuan Wyn Jones speech continued SOT - first of these is protecting frontline services - we must ensure Westminster govt delivers on further funding formula for Wales - four independent reports show Wales is being short changed by Treasury by at least 300 million pounds a year / this is minimum we need to protect frontline budgets for schools and hospitals - this situation must be put right immediately while the current funding formula is replaced by a fairer one based on need - Secondly, protecting vulnerable pensioners. - in this election Plaid wants to make sure pensioners have enough money to live on - poverty affects around 2 million pensioners in the UK today - shameful that thousands of most pensioners can't afford money to put food on their plates and heat in their homes - shouldn't looking after the elderly be a basic requirement of a decent society - rather than relying on unclaimed pension credits, Plaid would increase state pension in first instance for those over 80 - this policy would be introduced for all pensioners over time when the public finances allow - Labour has paid lip service to idea of tackling poverty / this policy can't be abandoned when times are tough - hand over to Elfyn Llwyd
