The Hetch Hetchy Valley. The first time I'd heard about the Hetch Hetchy was watching the PBS special on the national parks with the damming of this beautiful valley and the strong opinions running on both sides of this issue. I knew one day I'd have to see it to even try to appreciate what John Muir saw over a hundred years ago. So there I was walking, or rather coming back from a walk that had led part of the way to Wapama Falls. I didn't quite make it there with some other demands of time and places to visit that afternoon...perhaps another time. So I was walking along the trail heading back to the dam and saw this beautiful view of Kolana Rock through a break in the trees with a little patch of the Hetch Hetchy Reservoir. Above were blues skies and clouds above to complete the setting.
