Zone of Bialowieza Forest Biosphere Reserve is seen in Bialoweza, Poland on 15 June 2017
Bialowieza Forest is one of the last and largest remaining parts of the immense primeval forest that once stretched across the European Plain. The forest is home to 800 European bison, Europe's heaviest land animal. Bialowieza National Park protects the best preserved fragment of Bialowieza Forest last natural forest at the European Lowland Area, having the primaeval character, identical with the one which covered the area of deciduous and coniferous forests years ago.
