Refugee Camp in Dohuk Iraq

MAMILYAN IDP CAMP, AKRE, IRAQI KURDISTAN - A Yazidi lady called Mahia, aged 37, and who has five young children -3 boys and 2 girls -that range in age from 11 to 2 years old and who are living with her in a sparse tent in the sprawling camp. The last 18 months of Mahia's life has been one of sheer hell- for her and her the children. On August 3rd, 2014, Mahia, along with her husband and the children, were taken by ISIS forces when they took over the town of Sinjar some 50 miles inside the Syrian border. The house they lived in was overrun by the Islamic State fighters and they were bundled onto trucks and driven into Mosul - Iraq's second largest city and still under ISIS control. That night was the last time she saw her husband - whom she now presumes dead- and the beginning of the living nightmare she was to endure for eight long months. (Photo by Giles Clarke/Getty Images)
