VENICE, CA - JULY 7, 2021 - - A worker with the St. Joseph Center talks with a homeless couple along Ocean Front Walk in Venice on July 7, 2021. St. Joseph Center, the lead agency in the encampment-to-housing program, have been trying to house the homeless living along the boardwalk in Venice. The organization reported last Friday that 72 people had left Ocean Front Walk, the concrete promenade commonly known as the boardwalk, and the earthen berm next to it where about 200 tents had accumulated. The initial effort concentrated on tents scattered over the south end of the boardwalk between Windward Avenue and Park Court. Security officers, with City of Los Angeles Recreation and Parks, have been placing notices warning homeless of a clean-up happening on July 9. The notice said, All items that pose an immediate threat to the health or safety of the public may be immediately removed and discarded. (Genaro Molina / Los Angeles Times via Getty Images)
