A wood-inlay mural measuring 37 feet by 7 feet 4 inches, believed to be the largest ever made, was unveiled at Ralph Symonds Ltd., Homebush Bay, today. The artist, Mr. Leslie Senty of Ramsgate, came to Australia from Yugoslavia 12 years ago. He spent over a period of 8 months on the mural which is made from thousands of veneer pieces and valued at $20,000. The mural, after public display, will go to a private home at Castle Hill for which it was commissioned. It depicts South Sea Islands figures and scenes and every species of South commercial Australian timber and several imported timbers have been used in the making. The firm of Ralph Symonds provided space, timbers and skilled labour to assist Mr Senty with his creation. The general manager of the firm, Mr. Graham Kale, attended the unveiling today and Mr. Senty points out some of the fine detail of the work. April 23, 1968.
