University Students Hold Demostration Regarding Student Loan Debts
TORONTO, ON - FEBRUARY 4: Wendy Crolla, 30, Christopher Collins, 25 and Chris Wagner, 25 each recieved their certificate of debt at a mock graduation as part of a protest at Sidney Smith Hall University of Toronto, February 4, 2004. Wendy got a B.A. in Montreal in Women's Studies & Anthropology and is now on staff with UofT's graduate students union. She is now in debt for $47,743 in student loans. Christopher (centre) is getting his Phd. in computer science and is in debt $39,000. Chris Wagner is studying for his Masters in social work and is $7003 in debt. Today is a day of action for university students across the country. Students held a mock graduation, wearing gowns etc, and going to be "graduating" students with large debts.
