KENYA-ENVIRONMENT
Volunteers take a break at a micro-recreation park initiated by slum youth situated on a section of the bank reclaimed from the heavily polluted Nairobi River in Nairobi's Korogocho shanty town on May 17, 2019 in Nairobi, where at least 69, mostly reforming hoodlums and dilinquents, are now eching out a livelyhood cleaning up the river and it's environs. Slum youth in Korogocho, worn out of being in constant 'flee-mode' at the sight or sound of police in the ghetto decided in 2017 to create the park as part of their efforts to clean up the putrid environment thynhad grown up in and evidence to their local community of their decision to reform from crime and inspire younger generations from criminal ways.
