ROYAL Stamp 2

This stamp featuring the rock singer Fredie Mercury was at the centre of a fresh controversy when it was revealed Wednesday June 3, 1999, that it breaches Royal Mail rules that no living person - other than members of the Royal family - may appear on a British postage stamp. Roger Taylor, the drummer of the rock band Queen, is clearly visible behind Freddie Mercury on the 19p stamp. The Royal Mail admitted it was a rare breach of the rule, but called for common sense to prevail over the pinhead-sized portrait. See PA story ROYAL Stamp (Photo by PA Images via Getty Images)
