Act Of Homage To The Exemplary People Of La Palma

This institutional act wants to pay tribute to the people of this Canary Island for their exemplarity in the situation experienced by the explosion of the volcano. On September 19, 2021, a volcano erupted in the Cabeza de Vaca area, in Las Manchas, in the Cumbre Vieja Natural Park, near the municipality of El Paso. After 85 days of activity, its eruption ended last December 25. According to the latest Copernicus estimate, 1,241.1 hectares have been destroyed by lava and 2,988 buildings have been destroyed. Some 1,170 families lost their only home. The Canary Islands Government put the losses caused by the volcano at 842 million.
