NAPLES, CAMPANIA, ITALY - 2017/02/11: The exhibition in the diocesan museum of Naples, of the Salvator Mundi, an alleged painting by Leonardo Da Vinci found in Naples, unleashed by the "secrets" of the church of San Domenico Maggiore and attributed to the Tuscan genius, unfortunately without absolute certainty on the attribution of the Opera. From the chapel of Muscettola comes the intense and mysterious blessing of Christ painted on the table according to the iconography of Salvator Mundi, taken from a lost prototype of Leonardo, one of which can be considered one of the most faithful editions, dating back to the first decade of the sixteenth century. On 15 November 2017, the "Salvator Mundi", which belonged to Dimitri Rybolovlev, was put up for auction at the famous British auction house Christie's for $ 450 million and became the most expensive painting ever sold in the world. Before the auction it belonged to a Russian magnate who lived abroad for a long time, Dimitri Rybolovlev, patron of As Monaco. The work, walnut oil measures 65.7 × 45.7 cm, depicts the image of the blessing of Jesus Christ, holding a transparent globe. (Photo by Salvatore Laporta/KONTROLAB /LightRocket via Getty Images)
