The Bridgewater Hall
The Bridgewater Hall, Barbirolli Square, Manchester, January-September 1996. Looking over the auditorium in Bridgewater Hall during the installation of fittings, including seats, lights and the steel tensioning structure suspended from the ceiling. The Bridgewater Hall was designed as the home of the HallÈ Orchestra. Work on the site began in September 1993. The building was topped out in March 1995 and it was opened in September 1996. The interior of the auditorium was designed in consultation with Arup Acoustics. The 2,400 seats were designed to reflect sound equally whether they were occupied or empty. Artist John Laing plc.
