Duncan Grant
August 1930: Scottish painter Duncan Grant (1885 - 1978) at Charleston, Sussex. Grant was born in Rothiesmurchas, Inverness-shire and studied at the Slade and in Paris and Italy. He was associated with Roger Fry's Omega Workshop, the Bloomsbury group and later the London Group. He painted landscapes, portraits and still-life, citing Roger Fry and Cezanne as his main influences. He also designed textiles and pottery. His work entitled 'Girl At the Piano' can be seen at the Tate Gallery in London. (Photo by Frances Partridge/Getty Images)
