Kress, founder and head of the chain store organization bearing his name, who has donated his art collection, said to have been assembled at a cost of $30,000,000 and consisting of 375 paintings and 18 pieces of sculpture, to the National Art Gallery in Washington, DC. Acceptance of the collection was announced in Washington, on July 12th, by David K.E. Bruce, president of the Board of Trustees of the National Gallery. The Kress Collection will be installed for the opening of the $15,000,000 gallery now being erected with funds provided by the late Andrew K. Mellon.
