Ruins of the castle of Arques-la-Bataille
Ruins of the castle of Arques-la-Bataille, near Dieppe, France, 23 August 2013. The fortified castle was built on a rocky promontory overlooking the town, in the first half of the XII century, and modified up to the XVI century. This fortress suffered many sieges, one of them by William the Conqueror in 1052. At the foot of the ramparts French king Henry IV won a decisive battle against the troops of the League in 1589. The castle is classified as historical monument since 1875. (Photo by Horacio Villalobos/Corbis via Getty Images)
